Rukiya Otika Minor announces her engagement and upcoming marriage to Mickey LaSalle Abston, the son of L.J. “Mickey” Abston of San Diego and Deautral Davis of Natchez.

The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. Carl T. and Margaret Minor.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Natchez High School and Alcorn State University in Lorman. She is employed by AJFC Early Head Start in Natchez as an IT specialist.

She is the granddaughter of the late Rev. Elijah and Bessie Minor and the late James and Charlotte Stepney, all of Natchez.

The groom is a graduate of Natchez High School and Southern University in Baton Rouge. He is employed by MDRS in Natchez as a VR counselor.

He is the grandson of George “Peter Rabbit” Davis of Natchez and the late Bessie Mae Davis and the late Elizabeth Abston.

The wedding will be at 6 p.m., Aug. 19 on the Biloxi beach. A reception will follow at the Treasure Bay Casino Hotel and Resort.
