PORT GIBSON — Plans to re-install Port Gibson’s Presbyterian Church’s landmark sculpture of a gilded hand pointing toward heaven this morning were postponed because of wet weather and saturated ground conditions.
The Rev. Michael Herrin said contractors do not want to risk putting ruts in the ground with the cranes that are needed to lift the gilded sculpture on top of the church’s steeple.
Herrin said a new date to reinstall the hand will be coordinated with the contractor in the near future.
