NATCHEZ — Police believe a Natchez man returned to the scene of a creepy crime early Wednesday before he was arrested for trespassing.
Police believe he entered the same residence two weeks prior.
Kevin Terrance Williams, 54, 817 Martin Luther King St., was arrested early Wednesday morning on a charge of willful trespassing and a warrant for contempt of court (failure to pay).
Natchez police reported an incident from July 15 when Williams allegedly broke into a residence on located on Homochitto Street. That night, the residence’s owner called police after she awoke to a man nuzzling her leg with his head underneath the covers.
Shocked, the resident reportedly jumped out of bed and asked the man — believed to be Williams — who he was, to which the man responded “Chris.” After the resident announced she was calling 9-1-1, the man fled, the police report said.
Though investigators could find no signs of forced entry, they did report finding the alleged suspect’s baseball cap he dropped upon fleeing.
Just after midnight on Monday, officers responded to a call from the same Homochitto Street house. The same resident reportedly heard a knock at her door and asked the person to identify himself.
She reported hearing a man’s voice respond “Kevin,” and the resident opened the door believing the man was the father of her child.
Upon answering the knock, the resident realized the subject at her door was the same man who had allegedly trespassed into her residence on July 15. Police said the man then fled towards Duncan Avenue wearing a white tank top with dark shorts.
The suspect was then seen, police reported, entering a house at 301 Cherokee St.. When officers arrived at the residence, they found Williams, whose clothes matched the description given to officers. Police also reported that Williams was drenched in sweat.
Williams was arrested on the outstanding warrant for contempt of court and was later charged with trespassing. Police said burglary charges are pending for the July 15 incident.
