FERRIDAY — An 82-year-old, partially blind Ferriday man went missing Wednesday following a walk to downtown Ferriday.

Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy David Hedrick said Harold “Jake” Skipper was reported missing Thursday. Hedrick said searches were conducted Friday night and plans were to search again this morning, including family.

“We have put out an APB with everyone and have been out searching on four wheelers,” Hedrick said. “We have interviewed friends, family members and are doing everything we can do.”

Hedrick said the sheriff’s office also pulled bank records.

Skipper was last seen Wednesday afternoon walking on the 900 block of First Street headed toward his residence at 147 Skipper Drive, Skipper’s grandson Orlando Matthews of New Orleans said.

Matthews said Skipper was last seen wearing black pants, a white shirt and he has a walking cane. Matthews said Skipper is blind in one eye and has diabetes and high blood pressure.

Matthews said Skipper walked downtown.

Anyone with information on Skipper is asked to call 911 or Ferriday Police Department at 318-757-3606. Hedrick said the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office is assisting.

“We will give all the help we can,” Hedrick said. “Please keep the family in your prayers.”
