NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Joy McCabe Watson, 76, who died Wednesday night, July 12, 2017, at Merit Health Natchez, will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Watson was a 1959 graduate of Natchez High School and attended Hinds Junior College.

She lived in Natchez for a number of years, during which time her daughter Evelyn Lee and her son Chip were born. She lived in the Morgan City, La., area for 14 years, then in Lafayette, La., Aberdeen, Scotland, Denver, Colorado, Talladega, Alabama, Vidalia, and Natchez. She was a homemaker her entire adult life. She was a fine artist and crafts person. She made many beautiful objects. She also was a great gardener and her homes always sparkled with flowers and plants. She was a good mother and was proud of her children and grandchildren.

She had been ill for a number of years and developed Leukemia about a year ago.

Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, John Watson; her parents, Gregory and Evelyn McCabe; and one daughter, Evelyn Lee Pickett Dale.

Survivors include one son, Charles “Chip” Pickett of Phoenix/Anthem, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Channing Pickett of New York City and Carson Pickett of Phoenix, Ariz.; one grandson, Ryder Dale of Boulder, Colo.; and her first husband and father of her children, Charles “Chuck” Pickett of Lafayette.
