ERIC J. SHELTON | THE NATCHEZ DEMOCRAT Members of the Concordia Parish Special Weapons and Tactics Team demonstrate how to extract a suspect from a vehicle Thursday afternoon during the Rotary Club meeting at the Panola Woods Country Club in Ferriday. The tactics team was formed in 1995 out of necessity, Sheriff Randy Maxwell said. While the team is based in Concordia Parish, it takes calls in other parishes. The team can clear a three-bedroom house in 15 seconds. During the team’s 16 years in existence, Maxwell said all situations have been resolved peacefully. While the team has various shotguns, pistols and rifles, it also has non-lethal weaponry, such as a modified paintball gun that shoots ammo filled with pepper spray that disperses when it hits the target.
