CENTREVILLE — Services for William Douglas “Bill” Day Sr., 74, of Crosby, who died Monday, April 11, 2011, at Field Memorial Community Hospital, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Hopewell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bernard Waites and the Rev. Bart Houston officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home in Centreville.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Friday, both at the church.
Mr. Day was born Dec. 26, 1936, in Wilkinson County, the son of Walter Day and Ollie Johnston Day. He was a retired truck driver and welder. Mr. Day also served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Day was a member of Perrytown Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clare M. Day; two brothers, Jimmy Clark Day and John Day; and two sisters, Walter Mae Greenhaugh and Elenor Floyd.
Survivors include a special companion, Addie Williams of Jena, La.; two sons, William Douglas Day Jr. and wife, Delores, and Robert Allen Day, all of Crosby; one sister, Barbara Wheeler of Crowley, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
