FAYETTE — Services for Bonnie Sue Sanders Moffett, 81, of Fayette, who died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Fayette United Methodist Church with the Rev. Aaron Lamb officiating.
Burial will follow at the Fayette City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Spencer Funeral Home Chapel and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church in Fayette.
Mrs. Moffett was born Jan. 13, 1936, in Jefferson County, one of eight children to Thomas Jefferson Sanders and Susie Davis Sanders.
She married Bilbo Moffett and together they had six children. Bonnie was a member of Fayette United Methodist Church. She was blessed by many friends there, including her Bible study group. She retired from the Jefferson County School System where she was the school secretary at the junior high school.
Bonnie’s family was her life and she spent a number of years following her sons and grandsons in many sporting events. Cooking and cake decorating was handed down by her to her daughters and granddaughters. Summer beach trips with family were highlights as well as “Belk Senior Days” with her sisters and brothers–in- law. She always said and lived by her motto “love you more.”
Mrs. Moffett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bilbo Moffett; four brothers, T.J. Sanders Sr., Eugene Sanders, Bobby Sanders and Joe Sanders; one sister, Hilda Burns; one grandson, Andrew Moffett; two nephews; and one brother-in-law, Donald Burns.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Swaggart and husband, Hoppy, and Mary Alice Harrison and husband, Glenn; four sons, James Moffett Sr. and wife, Ginger, Terry Moffett, Joseph Moffett and John Moffett and wife, Deborah; 12 grandchildren, Reese Pate, Adam Pate and wife, Kristen, Hayden Moffett, Hunter Moffett, Sarah Swaggart, Brittany Delaney and husband, Adam, Jessica Moffett, Ashley Craft and husband, Ethan, James Moffett Jr., Benjamin Moffett, William Moffett, and Jackson Moffett ; nine great-grandchildren, Avery Moffett, Landan Logan, Modie Pate, Aubrey Pate, Audrie Logan, Eli Pate, Madilynn Logan, Anson Pate and Ivy Pate; two sisters, Rita Beesley and husband, Bennie, and Susie Harrigill and husband, Claude; three sisters-in-law, Elise Sanders, Sue Sanders and Betty Rae Sanders; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Clara Buckner and Minnie Ann Darsey.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family of Mrs. Moffett wishes to express with great gratitude many thanks to Dr. Kenneth Stubbs for his continuous care through the years to the end. Also thanks to the pharmacy staff at Merit Health Natchez for their love and sacrifice during this time.
