VIDALIA — When Vidalia police responded to a family disturbance on Laurel Street Thursday, they reportedly found a 17 year old swinging a bedpost and making threats.
Ryan Rayshon Trust, 611 Laurel St., allegedly attacked officers during his arrest.
Trust was charged with disturbing the peace, aggravated assault, two counts of battery on a police officer and two counts of resisting a police officer with force.
Vidalia Police Assistant Police Chief Dennis Cowan said when officers arrived on Laurel Street, Trust was irate.
Trust was allegedly walking around the yard, waving the bedpost and threatening officers, Cowan said.
Officers were able to get Trust to put down the bedpost, which was approximately the size of a baseball bat, Cowan said. But when officers tried to arrest him, Cowan said Trust reportedly put up a fight.
During the struggle, Cowan said one officer’s thumb was jammed and the other Trust allegedly hit with his elbow above the officer’s eye.
Cowan said the officers were not seriously injured.
Trust was in jail Friday with no bond set.
