Graduations join week of good news

As we begin to celebrate the end of the school year and the start of summer, let us pause to reflect on some of the highlights from last week:

  • Students from Adams County Christian School’s student council learned the importance of helping others by working at an Orlando Fla., resort aimed at providing cost-free vacations to Walt Disney World and other resorts for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The students spent three days at Give Kids the World Village and said they came back feeling like they made a difference in people’s lives — a life lesson learned outside the classroom.
  • Concordia Parish seniors tossed their caps in the air and celebrated the end of high school and the beginning of the rest of their lives.  More than 200 graduates from Ferriday High School, Vidalia High School and Monterey High School received diplomas during the commencement ceremonies last week. With words of advice and encouragement, area valedictorians and salutatorians sent classmates into the future.
  • Students from the Natchez campus of Copiah-Lincoln Community College also walked down the aisle to celebrate the end of another chapter in their lives. Some of the 166 graduates will go onto to finish a four-year college degree; others will soon begin new careers armed with the skills and knowledge they gained from their days at Co-Lin.

Congratulations to all of the graduates in the Miss-Lou.

As we enter a new week of fresh opportunities and healthy choices, let us remember to always be on the look out for good things in our community.
