ROXIE — Services for Voncile French Whitehead, 83, of Roxie, who died Monday, April 10, 2017, at Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Baton Rouge, with her loving family by her side, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roxie Baptist Church with the Rev. Van Windom and the Rev. Jamie Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow at the Roxie City Cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Whitehead was born April 2, 1924, in Hamburg, the daughter of Alvie French and Ollie Mae Calcote French.
She was faithful to her family and loved them very much. She had a love for her Lord and shared her faith with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allan David “A.D.” Whitehead; and two sisters, Helen French and Myrtice Fowler.
Survivors include one son, David Glen Whitehead and wife, Cindy Gale, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and seven grandchildren, Jason G. Whitehead and wife, Chantelle, Chad A. Whitehead and wife, Kristina, Melissa Parker, Matthew Chase Whitehead, Adam Billen and wife, Danah, Joseph Billen and wife, Rhonda, and David Billen and wife, Courtney.
