This will be my 25th year of gathering toys and sponsors for the annual Easter egg hunt at Duncan Park.

It is a great community event and impossible without the help of so many people.

It continues to be the most popular egg hunt from many miles. It will draw children from as far as Jena, all the way to Woodville.

The Miss-Lou Easter Egg Hunt was handed down to me, Robert “Bob” Ewing from Jim and Diana Nutter of WTYJ/WMIS Radio 25 years ago and I have enjoyed watching it grow into the biggest and best egg hunt for many miles around.

There will be thousands of eggs, prizes such as bicycles, stuffed animals, basketball goals and much more for everyone. It is a free event for all of children from 1 to 8 years old.

There will be two hunts so parents can help the youngest hunters.

Special thanks to Wilbert Whitley and the Natchez Recreation Department for their donation, getting the field ready and clean up. Thanks to many of our major sponsors which include, WTYJ & WMIS Radio, Gary and Phyllis Small of McDonald’s of Natchez, Vidalia and Port Gibson.

Also included are Mary Flach of Belk, Home Bank, Natchez Ford, Callon Petroleum and Kelly’s Kids. A special thank you to Ron and Cindy Idom for their hard work getting sponsors for this years event. This event would not be the huge success it is every year without the many merchants generous support and it is greatly appreciated.

Our official mascot, “Jelly Bean” will be handing out candy and prizes to all of the hunters.

In a day and time when family events are few and far between, I take pride in being able to continue this event for all of the children in the Miss Lou area.

So at 10 a.m. Saturday, grab your Easter baskets and bring your family to Duncan Park for the 61st annual Miss-Lou Easter Egg Hunt.
