NATCHEZ — Services for Lisa Wynee Johnson, 53, who died Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. today at New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church with a Delta ceremony at 5:30 p.m. and a celebration of life wake service at 6:30 p.m., all at the church.
A Rosary will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church before to the service.
Miss Johnson was born March 23, 2017, in Natchez, the daughter of Wilbur O. Johnson Sr. and Mary Helen Rushing Johnson.
She was a 1982 honor graduate of North Natchez High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Grambling State University and her master’s degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge.
Her teaching career was with Concordia Parish of Louisiana and Natchez-Adams School District where she retired this year.
Lisa was a faithful and active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and served in various positions. She also had memberships in a number of organizations including the Vidalia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Morrissy Court No. 9, the Krewe of Janus. Lisa enjoyed singing, reading, shopping, traveling, playing games and eating good food.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, Barbara Johnson (who she affectionately referred to as “my mom”); one brother, Wilbur “Yogi” Johnson Jr. and wife, Tamara, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sisters, Valeria L. Johnson of Natchez and Andrea Jolla of Katy, Texas; two nieces, Halle A. Johnson and Erinn Williams; three nephews, Wilbur “Trey” Johnson III, Christopher L. Johnson (who was like a son) and Jordan Michael; four aunts, Geraldine Segura, Carolyn Johnson, Beatrice Baldwin and Geraldine Faniel; two uncles, Raymond Segura and Jessie Dixon; two childhood friends, Ora Frazier and Margaret Moore; and a number of cousins, godchildren, special friends, other relatives and friends.
