Furniture and jewelry both new and old,
So many treasures waiting to be sold,
Crafts and metal works, gadgets and food,
Clothing, décor, and so much more,
It’ll be like shopping in one giant store!
On Saturday, April 1, the United Methodist Women of Jefferson Street Church will sponsor the 5th annual Community Market at the church, 511 Jefferson St. Opening at 7 a.m., booths located both outside and inside will be filled with a vast menagerie of items. Betsy Mosby and Lisa Falkenheiner who are co-chairing the Market are sure that the merchandise will please the bargain hunters, the DIY enthusiasts, and even the shopaholics!
The Christian Life Center and the parking lot will be filled with over 40 vendors, some from Natchez, and some from outside the Miss-Lou. This year we will feature booths that include such items as handmade jewelry, gently worn jewelry, wood works, painted furniture, wooden bowls and spoons, miscellaneous antiques, bird houses, bird feeders, picture frames, door hangers, housewares, porcelain, Amish delicacies, and multiple booths of garage sale items appropriately referred to as Trash to Treasure! There will even be a concession stand selling grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, chili dogs and soft drinks, so that you can grab a bite of lunch and continue shopping.
Our hours of operation will be 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. We advise you to come early so that you may have top choice.
The United Methodist Women (UMW) of Jefferson Street Church can certainly be classified as a group of hard working ladies. There are two groups, or circles at Jefferson Street United Methodist Church. Each circle meets monthly for Bible Study and fellowship, and every other month the two circles come together for a joint meeting, program and luncheon. We undertake multiple mission projects during the year, and all proceeds from the Market will be used to help support these projects that will benefit needy women and children. Some of the projects of the United Methodist Women of Jefferson Street Church are The Bethlehem Center in Jackson, The Choctaw Mission in Philadelphia, The Wesley House Community Center in Meridian, MS, Methodist Children’s Services in Jackson, MS. The Jefferson Street UMW sponsors a local missionary doing physical therapy work in Liberia. Locally, we support the Stew Pot and Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, a group of UMW members are part of a mentoring/tutoring service to students at McLaurin School. We also support national and international missions in conjunction with the United Methodist Church.
Please join us in this shopping extravaganza — have fun, see friends, take home a treasure or two, and give to help others — all in one day, Saturday, April 1. See you Saturday at the Community Market!
