NATCHEZ — A Natchez liquor store and a restaurant are the latest businesses to be targeted in a rash of recent robberies and burglaries.
Natchez Police Department Sgt. Jerry Ford said Davidson’s Package Store on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive and Panda Buffet on D’Evereux Drive were both burglarized early Monday morning.
Ford said police received a call shortly after 5 a.m. about a burglary at Davidson’s Package Store. Security camera footage shows a black man wearing a gray T-shirt, black gloves, with his face covered, shatter the glass in the front door and enter the building.
The suspect then reportedly stole a 10-pack of small bottles of Bacardi rum, two bottles of Rumple Minze peppermint schnapps and an undetermined amount of cash from the register.
At approximately 6:31 a.m., police received a call that a burglary alarm at Panda Buffet had been set off.
Upon arriving, officers reportedly discovered that someone had shattered glass to enter the building and took $400 cash from a register.
No arrests have been made.
The burglaries follow robberies of five convenience stores in a little more than three weeks.
Ford said police are asking for assistance from residents in apprehending those responsible.
