FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man out on probation for a shooting at Tootie’s Body Shop last year was arrested Monday after allegedly ripping pipes from a woman’s residence.

Ferriday police arrested Vondell Aimon Hawkins, 29, 807 Second St., on charges of stalking, simple criminal damage to property, three counts of criminal trespassing and disturbing the peace.

Ferriday police reported Hawkins and his girlfriend apparently got in an argument at a Carolina Avenue residence Sunday evening to which police were called at 8:49 p.m., and the woman told officers she would go stay with her mother.

Hawkins allegedly went to the mother’s Evening Star Alley residence on three occasions — the first call to police came at 9:28 p.m. — and on the second occasion, Hawkins allegedly ripped pipes from beneath the mobile home, officers reported. Hawkins ran when officers arrived following the first two calls, police reported. Officers said Hawkins was making threats to his girlfriend and causing a disturbance at the Evening Star Alley residence.

On the third call from the residence, officers reported they cornered Hawkins and arrested him at approximately midnight.

Hawkins pleaded guilty in January to a five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm in connection with an Oct. 23, 2016, shooting at Tootie’s Body Shop in Ferriday.

Hawkins had originally been charged in November with five counts of attempted second-degree murder, but he accepted a plea to a lesser charge in court.

Hawkins was sentenced to seven years in prison, but the prison time was suspended and Hawkins was given five years of active supervised probation.

Officers said following Sunday’s incident, they will attempt to get Hawkins’ probation revoked, which could require him to serve the seven-year sentence.

Hawkins was being held Tuesday at the Concordia Parish Jail on a probation violation hold.
