FROGMORE — Services for Daffney Watson, 89, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Baptist Church in Frogmore with the Rev. Dr. Joshua Joy Dara of Alexandria, La., officiating.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery beside her husband, John Watson Sr., under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Watson was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Frogmore, the daughter of Osborne and Sallie Green Smith.
She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of St. James Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, John Page Watson Jr. and wife, Ollie, of Houston, Donald R. Watson and wife, Tanya, of Cedar Springs, Texas, Alonzo Watson Sr. and wife, Jennifer, of Katy, Texas, Henry Watson and Charles Watson, both of Ferriday; four daughters, Lizzie Watson Dixon of Vidalia, Barbara A. Watson of Pineville, La., Delores Schiele and husband, the Rev. Everett Schiele and Archia L. Cotton, all of Ferriday; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and her lifelong friend, Lula Freeman and her best friend, Marie Banks.
