Concordia Dixie Youth Baseball and Concordia Dixie Boys is ready to kick off another year of teaching children the importance of sportsmanship.
Registration is already open for players ages 3 to 14 and can be picked up at Hometown Sports in Vidalia. An in-person signup period will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 25 and March 4 at the recreational baseball complex.
“We have a great organization and a good program,” Concordia Dixie Youth President Mike Bowlin said. “We are excited to let kids get out on the field to play.”
Bowlin said this year is all about retention of players and said that numbers have gone down in recent years due to many tournament teams sprouting within the area.
“Hopefully it levels off,” Bowlin said. “We should still have a good number of about 26-30 teams.”
Additionally, this is the third year an instructional league, “wee ball,” for ages 3 and 4 will be held to prepare children for higher levels of play. The cost is $50 for this league.
Cost for ages 5 and up will be $70 for one child, $130 for two and $180 for three.
Tryouts will take place at the complex baseball fields on March 11 and the season opens on April 1.
