NATCHEZ — Services for Josephine Wallace Cottingham, 73, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Anthony Colenburg officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home with organizations ceremonies at 5 p.m. A celebration of life wake service will begin at 6 p.m.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Cottingham was born Oct. 19, 1943, in Natchez, the daughter of Harden Wallace Sr. and Bernice Wallace.
She was a graduate of Jackson State University, Grambling State University and Auburn University. She was a teacher.
Mrs. Cottingham was an active member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church where she loved to work with the youth. Other memberships included Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Eastern Star, Elks and a number of others. She enjoyed traveling and cooking.
Mrs. Cottingham was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one son, Rochell Cottingham and wife, Rynia; three brothers, Harden Wallace Jr., Tom Wallace and wife, Yvonne, and Keith Wallace; three sisters, LeVern Little, Ruth DiAnne Wallace-Harris and the Rev. Darlene Pickett; two grandchildren, Jarian Cottingham and Camera Cottingham; and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Cottingham to St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 99 Pinemount Road, Natchez, MS 39120.
