NATCHEZ — A Natchez man has been arrested for reportedly beating a man severely at a downtown bar in December.
Natchez Police Department Lt. Kenneth Stampley said Forrest Taylor Foster, 30, 23 Bryan Road, was charged with aggravated assault for beating a man who later spent 24 hours in intensive care in a Jackson hospital.
The victim was struck several times in the face, Stampley said, and suffered severe swelling, a broken nose, two black eyes, a chipped tooth, bleeding on his brain and required eight stitches below one of his eyes.
The fight reportedly took place at the Corner Bar on State Street.
Stampley said the motive for the fight is unclear, with the victim and suspect reportedly giving different accounts of the fight.
Stampley said investigators are unsure if a weapon was involved. Foster reportedly told police he only used his hands to assault the victim.
Foster was released from the Natchez City Jail on a $50,000 bond.
