NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Donald Fredrick Bertelsen Sr., 63, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Promise Hospital of the Miss-Lou in Vidalia, will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Jersey Settlers Cemetery in Kingston with Dr. Doug Broome officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bertelsen was born Jan. 6, 1954, in Pawpaw, Mich., the son of Bruce Bertelsen and Nora Haley Bertelsen.
He was 14 years old when he started laying brick and was the youngest brick mason in the union. He laid brick for 41 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, riding four wheelers and porch sitting.
Mr. Bertelsen was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Theresa and Kathy; and one brother, Dino.
Survivors include his wife, Shelia J. Bertelsen; three children, Donald F. Bertelsen Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of Vidalia, Tonya Perrin and husband, Mark, and Jamie Bertelsen and Chad Thomas, all of Natchez; nine grandchildren, Benjamin Dampier, Dylan Vail, Victoria Dampier, Katelynn Bertelsen, Gauge Thomas, Blake Perrin, Jacob Thomas, Taylor Perrin and Caleb Thomas; three great- grandchildren, Hibiki and Kanade Kochi and Bennett Dampier; three sisters, Christina Martinez, Sarah Hutchinson and Charon Hense; and one brother, Alex Bertelsen.
Pallbearers will be Gauge Thomas, Blake Perrin, Mark Perrin, Dylan Vail, Benjamin Dampier and James Clary.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Sharon, Tony Miranda, Randy Hutchinson, Jr., and Chad Thomas.
