NATCHEZ — A Vidalia police officer was recently arrested for reportedly assaulting a woman at a Natchez bar.
Natchez Police Sgt. Jerry Ford said Hanna Bradford, 27, 120 Southwind Drive, Natchez, was charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor, for the Jan. 4 incident.
Ford said Bradford reportedly grabbed a woman with whom she had a feud and began “squeezing her by force and shaking her” as she asked the woman if the woman had a problem with Bradford.
Vidalia Police Chief Joey Merrill confirmed Bradford is a police officer at VPD.
Merrill said Bradford would not be disciplined for the alleged incident until a court determines whether Bradford is innocent or guilty.
Merrill declined to comment further on the incident until, he said, it is resolved in court.
