NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing two vehicles Tuesday, one after the first vehicle reportedly ran out of gas.
Jean L. O’Quin, 48, 54 Starnes Drive, was charged with two counts grand larceny (motor vehicle).
Adams County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Jerry Brown said the first vehicle, a Cadillac DeVille, was reported missing at approximately 7:38 a.m. Tuesday from Myrtle Drive. At 9:15 a.m., deputies recovered the DeVille at the intersection of Jamison Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Street. Brown said the vehicle was out of gas.
While deputies were on scene recovering the DeVille, Brown said a woman approached to let deputies know her father’s vehicle, a Chevrolet Tahoe, had been stolen.
Brown said not long after, the sheriff’s office received a tip that the Tahoe had been spotted by someone who recognized the vehicle and knew the rightful owner.
At 10:30 a.m., deputies approached the parked Tahoe on Williams Street and reportedly found O’Quin in the driver’s seat and Ricky Potters in the passenger’s seat, Brown said.
Brown said Potters, who while on foot, was allegedly picked up by O’Quin off of Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
Brown said he was not aware of a motive or where O’Quin was reportedly going.
Ricky Potters, 62, 10 King Circle, was charged with grand larceny (motor vehicle).
O’Quin and Potters were in jail Thursday, O’Quin on a $10,000 bond and Potters a $5,000.
