VIDALIA — Services for Lloyd Gilbert Oppedahl, 78, of Vidalia,  who died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Oshner Medical Center in New Orleans, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Tommy Guthrie and the Rev. Ron Ledford officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

Lloyd was born Monday, Oct. 3, 1938 in Boone, Iowa, the son of Gilbert Oppedahl and Berniece Hove Oppedahl.

He was faithful in his service to Calvary Baptist Church, his country where he served in the U.S. Navy and to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Oppedahl was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Wiley Oppedahl; two daughters, Julie Wright and husband, Marty, of Shreveport and Carolyn Oppedahl of New York; two granddaughters, Emily Wright and Anna Wright; three brothers, Iver Oppedahl, David Oppedahl and wife, Janice, and Jimmy Oppedahl, all of Boone, Iowa; three sisters, JoAnn Tolyan of Denning, Iowa, Janice Dickerson of Boone, Iowa, and Susie Oppedahl of Ames, Iowa; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Marty Wright, Gary Byrd, Forrest Byrd, Sam Floyd, Louis Crooks and R V Mize.
