VIDALIA — Vidalia police are searching for two men who reportedly led police on a chase, damaging police cars, after they reportedly broke into cars parked at a hotel.

Vidalia Police Department Capt. Frankie Carroll said officers were dispatched to Comfort Inn and Suites on the Vidalia Riverfront because two men in the parking lot were reportedly shining flashlights into parked vehicles at approximately 3:30 a.m.

An officer and a Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy in the area spotted the men and reportedly chased them on foot until they got into a vehicle and fled, Carroll said.

Police chased the men across the Mississippi River bridge, where the man driving the vehicle began ramming the two police vehicles chasing the suspects, Carroll said.

“It ended up causing minor damage to the vehicles,” he said. “One of the units got its side mirror knocked off, and the other had its left mirror knocked off. It wasn’t anything major.”

The chase ended on Brenham Avenue in Natchez, when the two men and a woman who had been in the vehicle jumped out and fled on foot.

Police caught the woman, but the two men escaped. An Adams County Sheriff’s Office K-9 dog tracked the men to Williams Apartments, where the dog lost the scent.

“It was during the rain and storm, and it’s kind of hard to track, but the dog did a good job tracking them as far as it did,” Carroll said.

The woman — Shannon Imon White, 33, 53 Brenham Ave. — was arrested and charged with five counts of simple burglary. She remained jailed in Concordia Parish Monday evening without a bond.

A search of the vehicle the suspects were driving recovered chainsaws, drills, iPads, cell phones and other items stolen from the five cars that were burglarized at the hotel, Carroll said.

Police are still searching for the two male suspects, Carroll said.
