NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Claude Everett Melson Jr., 93, who died peacefully and went to spend eternity with his Lord, Jesus Christ, Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Burial will follow under the direction of Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland.
Mr. Melson was born March 16, 1923, in Natchez, the son of Claude Everett Melson Sr. and Lois Newton Melson.
He was a graduate of Ferriday High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in business administration.
As a decorated World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, and was honorably discharged with the rank of first lieutenant. His commendations included a Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star.
Mr. Melson was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Eugene Melson.
Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Melson; two sons, Claude Everett Melson III and wife, Jan, and Kirklyn Rabb Melson and wife, Edie; two stepchildren, Lisa Lambert Halford and husband, Eddy, and David Carter Lambert and wife, Lynn; two brothers, Van Curtis Melson and wife, Betty, and Fred Newton Melson and wife, Leona; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Clinton.
