NATCHEZ — Following a preliminary report from the state crime lab, police are still unsure of the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a Natchez man last week.

Natchez Police Detective Joe Belling said a preliminary report from the state crime lab has left the manner of death for Terrence Jackson undetermined pending further investigation.

Jackson, 21, died of multiple stab wounds to the chest Nov. 16. Adams County Coroner James Lee reported shortly after Jackson’s death that it appeared the manner in which Jackson died was homicide.

Lee said it appeared Jackson was stabbed after an altercation.

Lee said Tuesday that following the preliminary report from the state crime lab, he has changed his findings to reflect the manner of death as yet to be determined.

In regards to his initial statement, Lee said it is his process to investigate any violent death as a homicide.

Belling said the state crime lab is to conduct more tests, including tests of evidence, but it could be two or three months before results are concluded.

Jackson was a 2013 graduate of Cathedral School, where he was a member of the track and football teams.
