VIDALIA — A Ferriday man turned himself in Monday for reportedly being connected to the Nov. 2 robbery of a Pizza Hut delivery driver.

Mohnterrius Jefferson, 19, 183 T.P. Road, was charged with resisting an officer, first-degree robbery, obstruction of justice and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

A Pizza Hut delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint while attempting to deliver an order on Doyle Road. When the driver said he only had $10, the men — with their faces concealed and one carrying a rifle — took off with $62.21 worth of pizza.

On Nov. 2, Elbert R. Lee, 22, 132 Doyle Road, was arrested on charges of principal to first-degree robbery and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. A juvenile was also arrested that day and sent to a youth corrections facility in Alexandria, La.

Lee reportedly made the call and sent the driver to an address that doesn’t exist. Once the driver fled the scene, he called the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Vernon Stevens said a warrant had been issued for Jefferson’s arrest earlier in the month. Jefferson was reportedly one of the masked men in the robbery. Stevens said Jefferson’s family convinced him to turn himself in because of the bench warrant.

Stevens said the resisting an officer charge stems from giving false testimony during the initial investigation. The obstruction of justice charge, Stevens said, is because he allegedly hindered law enforcement efforts during the investigation.

Jefferson was in jail Tuesday on a $60,000 bond. Lee was in jail Tuesday on a $65,000 bond.
