We have a lot to be thankful for this year at the Stewpot!  Due to generous donations of money, equipment and labor, our facility is looking better than ever.  We have added dedicated volunteers who are delivering meals, cleaning, picking up donated food, picking up litter and helping out wherever needed.  The two Stewpot employees and numerous volunteers are shining examples of how people from different races, backgrounds and religious affiliations can come together for a common goal.  It is truly a blessing to be a part of this organization.

For over 30 years, the goal of the Stewpot has been that no one in our community goes hungry. Today, over 300 hot meals are served every day of the year, including holidays. Two-thirds of the meals are delivered to the elderly, handicapped and shut-ins. For some, the Stewpot delivery person is the only person they will see that day.

The Stewpot is funded by donations from churches, civic groups and individuals. Fifteen local churches support the Stewpot with the commitment of a monthly contribution.  Several months ago, letters were sent to all Natchez churches asking that the Stewpot be considered when budgeting for 2017.  Please encourage your church leadership to prayerfully consider a monthly contribution to the Stewpot. No amount is too small.  This support will ensure that the Stewpot will continue its mission tomorrow, next year, and in the future.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we are thankful for those that we serve.  We are thankful for the hands that will prepare 30 turkeys, potato salad, sweet potato casserole, green beans, cornbread dressing and sheet cake. We are thankful for all who donate their time, talent and resources for this worthy cause.

Monetary donations can be sent to Post Office Box 298, Natchez, MS 39121. Donations of food can be dropped off from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at 69 E. Franklin St.
