CLAYTON — A Clayton man has been charged with attempted murder after shooting a person following an argument at a convenience store Monday evening.
Jonathan Green, 28, 115 Concordia St., Clayton, was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder, criminal damage, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and obstruction of justice.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Vernon Stevens said Green allegedly was involved in an argument with the victim prior to the shooting.During the altercation outside the store, Green reportedly pulled out a pistol and fired three shots, Stevens said. Two bullets hit the victim and one hit a vehicle, Stevens said.
Stevens said Green reportedly ran across the street into a trailer.
The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office special operations group was alerted at approximately 7:30 p.m. Upon arrival at the trailer, deputies were able to order Green outside to be arrested through use of a megaphone, Stevens said.
The victim was treated and released from Riverland Medical Center.
Clayton Police Chief Bobby Madison said the incident occurred at the Handy Trak. Madison said he appreciated the efforts from the sheriff’s office and Ferriday Police Department.
“When you have organizations working together as one, you will have some crimes that are solved just like that,” Madison said. “I can’t thank them enough. That’s what I call team work.”
Madison said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
CPSO Chief Deputy David Hedrick also thanked the officers and deputies for working together.
“I am very proud of my deputies for the job they did,” Hedrick said. “The cooperation between dispatch, line deputies and Clayton Police Department has never been better.
“I would like to send out prayers to the family of the victim.”
Green was in jail Tuesday afternoon with no bond set.
