Honor our veterans at area services

Members of the local American Legion and VFW Post invite the public to join us for our annual Veterans Day events.
Along with students and faculty, we will host ceremonies at 10 a.m. Thursday at Vidalia High School and at 9 a.m. Friday at Delta Charter School, the former Huntington School in Ferriday.
Our annual flag retirement ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Natchez Convention Center. This ceremony is again directed by adult scout leader Ricky Warren. As veterans, we appreciate Ricky’s ongoing dedication to organizing this special event, which demonstrates the correct etiquette for preparing and presenting a flag for retirement. The event also provides an opportunity for a veteran or scout to demonstrate the proper procedure for folding our nation’s colors. So please turn out for a tribute to Old Glory.
Should you need additional information about the school events or the flag retirement ceremony, please contact one of the following: John Floyd, Commander VFW Post 9573 at 601-392-6700; Ricky Warren, scout leader at 601-597-4724; Jim Hargon, Boy Scouts of America at 662-671-9564 or Eddie Ray, scout leader and veteran at 601-443-7460.
