WILDSVILLE, La. — Services for Irene Bruit, 93, of Wildsville, La., who died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, in Jonesville at Columns Community Care Center, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Evangeline Baptist Church in Wildsville with the Rev. Curtis Smith and the Rev. Dennis Baker officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bruit was born Feb. 13, 1923, in Concordia Parish, the daughter of Benjamin Randall and Mollie Tarver.
She was a retired beautician. She was also a faithful member of Evangeline Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and training union for a number of years. Her life revolved around her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a number of family and friends.
Mrs. Bruit, “Granny,” to those who knew and loved her, was an inspiration and mentor, not only to her family, but to the many lives she touched throughout her life. Granny loved her church and her church family. But, most of all, she loved her Lord. She thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the holidays with her family. She always looked forward to making candy for the holidays and distributing it throughout the community.
Mrs. Bruit was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of more than 60 years, Harvey Bruit Jr.; two brothers, Guy Tarver and Johnny Tarver; three sisters, Ruby Bennett, Bernice Halford and Hazel Chandler; and infant grandson, Derrick Bruit; and one son-in-law, Henry Vanier.
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Sue Vanier of Vidalia; two sons, Rusty Bruit of Wildsville and Ronnie Bruit and wife, Mary Krause Bruit; one granddaughter, Amy Bruit of Harrisonburg; three grandsons, Timothy Vanier and wife, Sandy, of Vidalia, Dwight Vanier and wife, Stacie, of Stonewall, La., and Ron Bruit and wife, Amie Kaye; one great-grandson, Derek Vanier; six great-granddaughters, Hayley Vanier, Faith Lowe, Brianna Vanier, Maddie, Maisie and Maggie Bruit; two great-great-grandsons, Corban and Connor Vanier; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bennie Tarver, Walter Krause, Derek Vanier, Paul Riggs, Elbert McEntyre, Herman Merritt, Aaron Wade and James Boyette.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Evangeline Baptist Church.
Special thanks to The Columns Community Care Center. She loved all of you that cared for her during her short stay there.
