After last Friday night’s decisive 36-7 win at Silliman Institute clinched the MAIS District 5-AAA championship for Centreville Academy, Tigers assistant coach Jarrod Jordan said that one of the teams they could face in the first round of the Class AAA state playoffs would be Silliman.
Jordan’s thoughts came to fruition.
Centreville will host Silliman in the opening round of the MAIS playoffs coach.
Centreville assistant Robbie Isonhood said it’s very difficult to beat the same team twice in one season.
“Both teams have advantages as well as disadvantages,” Isonhood said.
Isonhood said the Tigers have had a strong week of practice and are prepared for the rematch.
“We looked at film and diagnosed where the problems were,” he said. “The players have a great attitude. The players and staff are excited. Silliman is one of the big rivalry games. This will be a double-rivalry game. It’s going to be a good game on both sides.”
Isonhood said a key for his squad will be establishing more balance, “both offensively and defensively.”
“They were able to see what we do live, and we were able to see what they do live,” Isonhood said. “It’s completely different than watching it on film.”
