AUSTIN, Texas — A memorial service for Mary-Lynn Adams Polk, 70, of Austin, Texas, who died peacefully Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Austin.
Arrangements are under the direction of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin.
Mrs. Polk was raised in Natchez, the daughter of Cleo and Stacy Adams.
She was a 1963 graduate of Natchez-Adams High School and a 1967 graduate of Mississippi State College for Women with a dual-degree in mathematics and English. While working as a computer programmer with IBM, she met Darryl Polk in Huntsville, Ala., and they were married in 1972. Mary-Lynn settled in Austin with Darryl in 1976 and raised their daughter, Amy.
She will be remembered with love for her faith, selflessness and steadfast friendship.
Mrs. Polk was exceptionally active at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Austin, a place she cherished and served for more than 30 years as a talented member of the choir and various groups including the Church Vestry, Altar Guild, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Bible Study Fellowship and the Episcopal order, “Daughters of the King.”
Survivors include her husband, Darryl; one daughter, Amy and husband, Patrick Murray; one sister, Marsha Roberts and husband, Neumie; and beloved extended family across the country.
In recent years, Mary-Lynn’s pride and joy were her two granddaughters, Harper and Charlotte, with whom she shared laughter and made loving memories.
