A pair of long touchdowns runs and two more scoring drives were too much for the Natchez Falcons C team to overcome as it fell to the Jackson Steelers 28-0 in youth football action Saturday morning.
The Steelers (9-0) scored in each quarter to remain undefeated in league play.
“We had a lot of key players that didn’t show up, so we looked disorganized,” Natchez Falcons coach Dennis Davis said. “We had to make up plays as we went, but they out-blocked us and played with more fundamentals.”
While a number of Falcons (3-5) performed at a high level, the team was led for most of the game by defensive lineman Camerron Thomas and quarterback Kyrin Johnson.
“(Johnson) is a very talented player, a very smart player,” Davis said. “He’s an honor-roll student … (Thomas) is the same, he’s athletic. They are the captains on this team.”
Davis said his squad will have to put Saturday’s disappointing outcome behind them and focus on the rest of the season.
“We just have to get back to work Monday,” Davis said. “This is my passion, and I love it. It’s what I did, and I want to give back to the kids.”
