FLOWOOD — Adams County Christian School girls’ soccer head coach Jim Bob Allgood said his Lady Rebels played good for about 3/4 of its match Tuesday afternoon against Hartfield Academy.

However, the Lady Hawks put the match away with a goal at the 65th minute as they went on to defeat the District 3 runner-up Lady Rebels 4-0 in the first round of the MAIS Division III tournament.

The match was scoreless until District 3 champion Hartfield Academy got the ball in the back of the net at the 32nd minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

“For my girls to hold it to 1-0 at halftime (was an accomplishment), Allgood said. “We were very aggressive in the first half. We were in it until the 65th minute. I’m very proud of the way my girls played.”

Hartfield Academy scored the first of its three goals in the second half at the 52nd minute to go ahead 2-0 and had its final goal of the match at the 74th minute.

Allgood said his team had several shots on goal throughout the match, but they could not find the back of the net.

Allgood said Hartfield’s “passing and trapping skills” gave his squad fits in the second half.

“They got some breaks on balls that got through the back defenders,” he said.
Allgood said all 11 seniors on the team and nearly every player on the roster got to see playing time during the match.

Goalkeeper Morgan Blanton finished with 12 saves.

“The AC ladies soccer program has come a very long way in a short number of years,” Allgood said. “Not too many years ago, the Jackson teams were beating us by double digits.

“I’m very proud of the class and hard work that all my soccer ladies have put on all year long.”

ACCS finished with an overall record of 12-3.
