Ja’Quorias Stewart threw for 271 yards and six touchdown passes as the Wilkinson County Wildcats beat the Franklin County Bulldogs 42-19 Friday night in MHSAA Region 7-3A action.
Stewart pretty much had his way with Franklin County’s defense, completing 16 of 27 passes. And his passing numbers could have been even better.
“He’s throwing the ball well. He’s improving week in and week out,” Wilkinson County head coach Kenneth Brown said.
Juan Anthony and Travion Jones were the beneficiaries of Stewart’s aerial attack. Jones had seven catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns while Anthony had eight receptions for 115 yards and four touchdowns.
Franklin County, on the other hand, had a tough time establishing a running game against the Wildcats’ defense. Bulldogs quarterback De’martre Collins was held in check running the ball and completed 13 of 18 passes for 154 yards with two touchdown passes, one interception and a 1-yard scoring run.
Wilkinson County (4-3, 1-0) hosts Jefferson County at 7 p.m. Friday.
Franklin County (2-5, 0-1) plays at Hazlehurst at 7 p.m. Friday.
