McLaurin Elementary School fifth graders Bryce Whittington and Jlyis Payne sow seeds in raised garden beds in front of the school. The gardens are sponsored by Humana Foundation and the City of Natchez. Master Gardeners from the MSU Extension Service were on hand to teach the students about plants, seeds and gardens. Funding for materials came from the city through the Humana Foundation as part of the city’s Adams County Diabetes & Heart Disease Intervention Program.
Third grader Deniya Pullins looks at the plants that were put in the raised beds.
