Perritt was born Jan. 19, 1920, in Delhi, La., the daughter of Jessie Marvin and Vera Bell Massey King. She was the second oldest of eleven children — ten girls and one boy.
Perritt married the late Tom David Perritt in 1942. From this union, seven children were raised — four boys and one girl. After the death of her husband in 1960, she continued to raise their children and never remarried. She was a hardworking woman dedicated to providing for her children. She quilted, grew gardens, canned vegetables and many other trades to provide for her children.
Later in life many of those trades became hobbies. She loved to can fresh vegetables, and we all loved her homemade soup. Quilting became something that she did all the time. I don’t think that any of us can say that we don’t have a quilt that she made out of love for us. She also loved to embroidery and made beautiful pillow cases. These were all things she enjoyed doing and sharing with her family. She was a woman of many talents.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and will always be in our hearts and memories.
Perritt was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom David Perritt; two sons, Clarence Rogers and wife Jean and Boyd Perritt; one daughter, Betty Humble; one brother, Marvin King; five sisters, Mattie Ruth Baggs, Maffie Davis, Deanie Baggs, Virgil Hatchel and Minnie Bell King; three grandchildren, Glenda Sue Davis, Trela Fonville and David Perritt; and one great grandchild, Wyatt Kemp.
