NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Dr. Milton “Mitt” Lafayette Roby, 81, who died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, surrounded by his family, will be 5 p.m. Sunday at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Parkway Baptist Church.
Mitt attended Durant High School, Millsaps College and University of Mississippi Medical Center.
After graduating medical school, Dr. Roby served in the U.S. Air Force in the Southeast Asia Theater during the Vietnam War. While there, he was awarded the Bronze Star. After returning home, he practiced medicine in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina, before moving to Natchez and headed the emergency room at Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital. Mitt then became a family doctor in Natchez and remained in Natchez until he retired.
Mitt loved motorcycles, guns, hunting, Ole Miss, cowboys and his dog.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Roby; his parents, P.R. and Dula Roby; and two sisters, Mary Jane and Bootsie.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Clark Roby; three daughters, Robyn and husband, Brian, Mitzi and Christi and husband, Brett; two sons, Rusty and Ronnie and wife, Ashley; and 13 grandchildren, Caitlyn and husband, Matthew, Trey, Lochlan, Roby, Claire, Jay, Silas, Macy Caroline, Mitt, Cooper, Mae Mae, McCord and McClain.
He is also survived by his dog, Bandit.
