NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening on Mississippi 555 near Marshall Road.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M Corp. Brandon Fortenberry said Dewitte Nelson, 42, was killed after the 2005 Toyota car he was driving southbound left the right side of the roadway, he overcorrected, then collided with a 2008 Hummer traveling northbound.

Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene, Fortenberry said. The crash happened at approximately 7 p.m. Mississippi 555 is also known in the county as Martin Luther King Jr. Road.

The driver of the Hummer, Lawanda Doss-Tolls, 47, of Vidalia, and two juvenile passengers from Natchez, sustained moderate injuries, Fortenberry said.
