Prep roundup: ACCS soccer clinches playoff berth

The Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels did two things Monday afternoon in their 2-1 win over Laurel Christian School in an MAIS Division III South District 4 game.
They clinched their first-ever playoff berth and defeated Laurel Christian twice in the same season.
“We were down 1-0 at halftime and my girls fought back for an awesome victory. My whole bunch played the best second half of soccer they’ve played all year,” ACCS coach Jim Bob Allgood said.
Anna McDaniel scored in the 49th minute and Emily Williams scored the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute.
ACCS (8-2, 6-1) plays at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at home against Discovery Christian School.
Cathedral 3, Parklane 0
Marli Vaughn scored two goals and Gracie Bertelsen had one goal, and Emma Hogue had two assists as Cathedral beat Brookhaven Academy 3-0 in Division III District 4 action Monday afternoon.
Cathedral led 1-0 at halftime on Vaughn’s first goal of the match with an assist from Bertelsen at the 34th minute. Hogue had an assist on Bertelsen’s goal at the 64th minute and on Vaughn’s second goal of the match at the 80th minute.
Cathedral (6-1, 5-0) plays at 5:30 p.m. next Monday when it hosts Discovery Christian.
