BROOKHAVEN — The Adams County Christian School Rebels had five rushing touchdowns from five different players as they defeated the Brookhaven Academy Cougars 35-20 Friday night in MAIS District 4-AAA action.
Within the first quarter and a half of the game, George Scott, Jordan Wells, Cade Wells, Julian Wilson, and DyKevis Ford each had a touchdown run. Scott’s 47-yards scoring run was the longest of the five.
Surprisingly, no one for ACCS had at least 100 rushing yards. Ford had the most with 89 yards on just five carries. The Rebels won the game despite having just six first downs and only eight passing yards. That’s because of the effectiveness of their running game. ACCS racked up 239 total rushing yards.
The Rebels led 35-0 at halftime before head coach David King put his subs in with the game having a running clock. Brookhaven Academy took advantage of that by scoring all of its points in the second half.
Chris Smotherman led the Rebels’ defense with three sacks and one fumble recovery.
ACCS (3-2, 1-0) next plays at 7 p.m. Friday when it hosts St. Aloysius.
