NATCHEZ — Authorities are investigating a sexual assault reportedly involving a 15-year-old female victim and an accused 19-year-old man occurring Wednesday afternoon. No arrest has been made.

Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sgt. Cal Green said the teenager reported the crime at the Juvenile Detention Center. Green said evidence has been sent to the state crime lab and the sheriff’s office is awaiting the results.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., deputies went to West Wilderness Road to pick up the 15-year-old, who was on house arrest but her ankle bracelet alerted authorities she was not at her residence, Green said.

Green said authorities are still investigating how she managed to get to the West Wilderness Road address.

The victim did not report the alleged sexual assault immediately but later after deputies dropped her off at the Juvenile Detention Center, Green said.

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened before possibly making an arrest, Green said.
