Trinity travels to district rival Porters Chapel

The Trinity Saints can take a sigh of relief; district play has started.
After winning in Week 1 on the road against Silliman Institute, the Saints (1-3) have endured a brutal, three-week run that included Canton, Copiah and Alabama’s Autauga academies.
The Saints head coach Graham Roberts said despite the 38-point deficit, he remains confident in the second-half effort his team showed. That will be key against Porters Chapel tonight, he said.
“I don’t expect us to be the most talented team, or have the most numbers or do everything perfect, but I expect great effort,” Roberts said. “That’s what I can build off of. When you give everything you’ve got, great things come from that. Porters Chapel, you can tell they work hard, and they’re well-coached.”
Roberts said through his first four weeks as head football coach, he has been most impressed by the resilience of his young players, not just the upperclassmen he expects to be determined.
“Some of my younger players have stepped up,” Roberts said. “I have guys like (senior Kevontaye Caston) who you know are going to go out there. I’ve really had some young guys who have really stepped up.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
