ACCS, King travel to face Brookhaven, Rushing

For the second straight week, Adams County Christian School and coach David King will square off against a familiar foe.
A week after defeating Wilkinson County Christian Academy and former ACCS assistant Chris McGraw, the Rebels now shift their focus to former Cathedral High School coach Ron Rushing and his Brookhaven Academy squad.
Rushing previously served as an assistant under King during the 2007 and 2008 seasons when the two were at Trinity Episcopal.
“Ron Rushing is a dear friend of mine, and his boys are playing hard for him,” King said. “They’re just outmatched right now.”
The Cougars (0-4) fell to Cathedral to last week, 34-20.
“(Rushing) throws the ball around, and he’s got a good mind,” King said. “If we don’t come sharp, we’ll find ourselves in a tough game.”
The Rebels (2-2), meanwhile are coming off perhaps their best two performances, beating WCCA 40-16 after topping Bowling Green 43-13.
King said today’s tilt has an added importance as the first district game of the season.
“I think we’ve had a good week of practice,” King said. “We always preach that you have to win your district ball games for seeding purposes.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
