Delta Charter falls to Cedar Creek

Cedar Creek School had too much firepower on offense and special teams for Delta Charter School to contain as the Cougars defeated the Storm 45-20 Friday night.
“We just got an old-fashioned butt whipping tonight,” Delta Charter head coach Zach Rogel said. “We didn’t match their physicality. As a coach, I didn’t have them prepared.”
Cedar Creek scored 17 points in the first quarter and 21 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 38-6 lead into halftime.
“They took two punt returns to the house. Offensively, they broke containment on a couple of long runs. It’s hard to find a silver lining because we hate to lose,” Rogel said.
Despite being down by such a big deficit at halftime, the Storm would not quit as it actually outscored the Cougars 14-7 in the second half.
“The second half, we showed a little resolve and a little heart,” Rogel said. “We moved the ball a little. We cut down on turnovers and penalties. We showed what our potential could be.”
Delta Charter (1-1) plays host to Grant High School at 7 p.m. Friday.
