VIDALIA — A Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Work Release vehicle was involved in an accident Wednesday morning on U.S. 84 near Curtis’ Wrecker Service.
The van, which had two work release inmates aboard, was in an accident with an 18-wheeler at approximately 6 a.m., the sheriff’s office reported.
CPSO spokesman Vernon Stevens said no one was seriously injured, but the van caught fire and burned following the collision. The van was in route to Lafourche Parish, he said.
Stevens said at no time was anyone in the community in any danger.
Stevens would not say if any deputies were on board or why the van was going to Lafourche Parish.
Stevens said for liability reasons he would not release any further details. He said the sheriff’s office did not yet have the report from the Louisiana State Police.
