NATCHEZ — Vandals caused at least $20,000 in damage to the Beau Pré Country Club golf course early Saturday morning by driving donuts around the course.
Beau Pré president Michael Blaine said the damage occurred around 6 a.m. Saturday and destroyed the No. 1 green. It appears someone drove a truck around the course, leaving ruts on the greens and up and down the fairway, Blaine said.
“It’ll cost us at least $20,000 to fix the No. 1 green, probably more than that, and we’ll have to fix the fairway,” he said.
Saturday’s vandalism is the third time in the past four years the golf course has sustained similar damage, Blaine said.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
“We do have a person of interest, but we are not releasing their name, since this matter is still under investigation,” Sheriff Travis Patten said Sunday.
