Dance team members catch La’Kiya Holmes, 11, during the Velvet Violettes dance practice Wednesday at Duncan Park. The Velvet Violettes perform mainly hip-hop and majorette styles. The team’s next competition is Sunday at the Who Run the Floor Dance Competition in Vicksburg.
